Spring Forward Take a Step

The clocks changed a few weeks ago and time sprang forward by an hour—what a great time to spring forward yourself and take a step toward something that you’ve been putting off out of fear, resistance, or procrastination.

We often feel we have oodles of time—a sense that we’ll get to things… someday. So we wait. We pause. We hold off. Time slips and extends, and maybe we don’t accomplish what we’d hope.

The real truth of the clock springing forward is that an hour is lost. The symbolism of that can’t be overlooked—a bit of time snatched away. How ironic that when we gain time, it’s “Fall,” thus a sense of moving backward or away, and when we lose time, it’s “Spring,” which implies forward momentum. No matter—when it’s Spring, we are meant to move into action, to clean up, to purge, to act, to spruce, to brighten. In essence, we are meant to use our time wisely and productively.

We may want to interpret a spring into action, or a step forward, as an opportunity for healthy change. Perhaps toward fitness, sobriety, intimacy, going further distances, taking bigger and more steps.

It’s perhaps a time of being uncomfortable by sitting with the unexpected, springing forward toward what you can discover about yourself, your surroundings and perhaps what you can accomplish!
