Best-selling author Belle Burden sat down for a conversation with Irena Choi Stern to discuss her book, “Strangers, A Memoir of Marriage,” to a sold-out crowd at the Bronxville Field Club.
Belle, who wrote this candid and ground-breaking book about her journey through marriage, has a connection to Bronxville. “I saw firsthand the kindness of this community,” Belle, who has old friends here.
“Interviewing Belle Burden about ‘Strangers’ was such a joy — she’s as kind as she is brilliant, and the book truly lives up to the hype,” says Irena Choi Stern. To boot, Belle explained that it was important to write down facts and not sound vindictive when she wrote her memoir. In fact, according to Belle, she relied on her legal training to stick to the facts.
The event, co-hosted by The Counseling Center of Bronxville, which supports not only divorce but all stages of life through bespoke mental health care, really brought this full circle. “There is a quote by the character Lynne in the book that really resonated with me: ‘Everyone has something.’” said Caroline Dimitri, MSW, and board member, in her opening remarks. “Everyone does have something. It might not be today, but it might be tomorrow, and the Counseling Center is here for you.”

Coverage varies depending on your insurance plan. Many plans offer reimbursement for mental health services, such as individual therapy, couples counseling, and family therapy. It’s important to check with your provider to understand what is covered.
