Tara Brennan, Ph.D

Tara Brennan, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist at The Counseling Center. She specializes in the treatment of trauma, depression, adult ADHD, and multicultural issues. Dr. Brennan’s approach to psychotherapy is active, collaborative and integrated. She incorporates treatment interventions from multiple modalities – relying most heavily on Psychodynamic approaches, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.

Dr. Brennan received her undergraduate degree from Bates College and her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Long Island University/Brooklyn. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital and internship at the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services. Additionally, Dr. Brennan trained at Beth Israel Medical Center, NYU’s Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, NYU Child Study Center, and school counseling centers. She worked on ADHD and trauma research at Mount Sinai Hospital’s Icahn School of Medicine and her dissertation examined the interplay between ethnic identity, prejudice, and cognitive developmental levels.
